Botty Sanches

Na jaren in Nederland te hebben gewoond, keerde Botty Sanches terug naar zijn geboorteland Suriname. Hij wilde zijn land beter leren kennen en ontdekken. De kleurrijke Botty was kunstenaar en avonturier, maar vooral een natuurmens. Zijn kunstwerken creëerde hij in het binnenland waar hij werkte met hout uit gebieden die duurzaam worden beheerd. Als avonturier kreeg hij niet genoeg van de gigantische Surinaamse jungle. Hij maakte deel uit van de delegatie die op 9 september 2007 als eerst een Surinaamse vlag op de Julianatop plaatste.

After having lived in The Netherlands for many years, Botty Sanches returned to the country where he was born, Suriname. He wanted to discover his country and to get to know it better. The colourful Botty was an artist and an adventurer, but before all a nature person. He created his art in the inland where he worked with wood from areas that are managed in a sustainable manner. As an adventurer he could not get enough of the gigantic Suriname jungle. He was part of the delegation that planted for the first time the flag of Suriname on the Juliana mountan top.
